I have 5 acres in Brentwood that extends into Davidson County and Id like to practice on my own land but I cant find any posted rules on the Williamson County or Davidson County web sites related to firearm use on private property. Public lands offer an excellent option for hunters looking to dial in before chasing their game, for recreational shooters that need longer shooting lanes, or for those that don’t live within reasonable proximity to an indoor facility. I have looked for regulations on shooting in this situation but have been unable to find anything.

I believe that this location would be totally safe (shooting into a steep hill) and that being in a wooded hollow would reduce noise problems. It is unlawful to hunt, shoot at, chase or kill with or without dogs, any wild animal, wild bird, or wild fowl on public lands and waters within 100 yards of a visible dwelling house, without the owner's permission,whether or not such a dwelling is on public or private lands. Hunting Near Private Dwellings. there are other lands that aren't 'public' but that are owned by companies like bowater that never objected to me shooting on their land :) and never posted no trespassing etc. This is in Tennessee out in the county. On private property, hunting while in or on a vehicle that cannot be legally licensed to operate on public highways in Tennessee (ORV, OHV, ATV) is permitted providing that the vehicle is stationary (engine may be running).
